Visiting The Lake

Hello My Friend,

Today we had a perfect, sunny weather here in Siófok. It was impossible to resist the temptation of going out, so I got on my bike and took a little trip. I took some photos that I would like to show you because I feel sorry for some of my groupmates who can't see Lake Balaton anytime when they want to. I hope that I can make them (and You) feel being here, and share 'the feeling of Lake Balaton' with them with the help of these photos.

Enjoy Your Holiday! 8-) Because We Deserve It!

See You Soon!

Roles and Plays

Hello My Reader,

I’m back again, with a new inspiration. In almost every cases I can’t point at something, which gave me an impulse, but today I’m able to do this. Now, I can tell you exactly: It was Lilla Gazdóf, and I would like to thank her for the idea of this post. ;-)

In one of her latest posts (’The Show Must Go On’), she wrote about the masks we wear every day. According to her, we always have the most appropriate way of behaving ourselves in every situation, and sometimes we can’t be just ’us’ as we would like to.

I think she’s right, but I see this issue from another point of view, that I would like to share with you. 8-) In my way of thinking, these –how shall I call?- ’behaving patterns’ aren’t real masks, but these are the ’roles’ in our Life. The two expressions would sound like synonyms, but they are a bit different.

In my personal opinion, it’s an absolutely natural thing, that we behave in different ways in certain situations, and we should never feel ashamed of it. If we would like to analyse this question we should make a distinction between people: Now, I would like to talk about the ’honest person’ who doesn’t act like being someone else out of fashion. I think most of the people belong to this group (or at least I hope).

In our Life, we have an infinite number of roles. For example, there’re certain situations, in which I’m a student, or a daughter, a Friend, a sister, a Fellow, a relative, a stranger and the list is endless. Unconsciously, I behave differently in different cases. These roles are parts of my personality, and they’re always ’ME’, but just from another aspect. They’re so equal, that I can’t tell you, which is the ’most authentic one’, and to which I can compare the others. All of them are honestly ’Dóry’, but ’Dóry as something’. I can’t control these parts, and if I was able to, I would never do it, because they’re spontaneous and natural. If you asked my Friends, they would introduce me in another way than my Parents, because they know other parts of my personality. Some of them would probably say, that I’m very serious and always prepared for everything, but the others would tell you that I’m a hopelessly disorganised person. I think this unknowable complexity of personality makes every human being a real character.

When I was about 10 or 12 years old I was too young to understand how personality works. I was always worried about my reactions and the way I behaved in certain situations. I thought, that I wasn’t ’natural’, but actually I did. I just didn’t know that a person can behave in several ways, and I wondered why I was more foolish among my Friends than with my Parents, because I wanted my Parents to know me in details like my Friends. After some years I acknowledged that every person’s personality includes roles, and it didn’t make me feel worried anymore. I’m aware of that my Parents know me as well as they can, and when I will ’pass away’ they won’t be totally surprised when they’ll have a conversation with my Friends on what kind of person I was. It’s a very reassuring idea.

I don’t know what you think about this ’personality issue’, but I would be very curious of your point of view, because you’re another person with another complex, whole world in his/her Soul. ;-)

I Wish You Everything Good and Have a Very Nice Day!

Born To Be Wild

Hello My Dearest Reader,

I have to face a terribly serious fact: I haven’t seen you FOR AGES! ’GOSH!’ I looked at the date of my previous post, and then I realized that time keeps passing, and I can’t do anything against it. I would like to do too much: learn more new things, read, write posts to my blogs, create something with my own, two hands, play billiard, spend more time with my loved ones... 24 hours a day is simply NOT ENOUGH for me! 8-D I even had inspiration to talk to you a minimum of 3 times, but I didn’t have time to put my thoughts into words. I feel terribly sorry for this. But let’s talk about something better!

Do you feel the Spring? I do! I can smell it in the air and feel everywhere. It’s behind the bush, at the bottom of the gardens, on the stem of the growing buds, in the tender trill of every bird, in the eyes of the grandmother walking in the street, and also in the jingling laughter of little children playing in the parks. ...and...naturally...in my Heart and in the Inspiration which called this post into Life in my mind.

Some days ago, I was standing on the balcony of my cosy flat, enjoying the sunlight. Suddenly, a unique, unmistakable sound hummed through the air, giving me a chill down the spine: a Harley Davidson occupied the street for some seconds. The well-known, restless feeling rettled in my mind: ’Born To Be Wild!’ and ’Let’s go motorcycling!’ It’s the best thing to do in such a shiny weather.

I'm really interested in riding a motorcycle, but I haven’t had the opportunity to get a driving licence, yet. It’s already planned, but it’s a question of time and study, because I put aside the money from my scholarships (or stipends) for the licence. 8-) It motivates me too.

I’m ’not allowed’ to ride a motorcycle, but I can legally be a travelling companion. Everytime I can, I take advantage of the opportunity to be the stowaway of my Fellow. He’s a fantastic, absolutely reliable driver, and I enjoy every journeys and trips we take together with his sister and her boyfriend. (The other girl is also the stowaway of her boyfriend.)

During the journey I can switch off my mind, open my arms wide and embrace the wind, and feel Free. I had the same feeling when I was riding a horse. I liked it very much, and the Freedom of motorcycling reminds me of those memorable days. In my way of thinking, this is the best way for humans to take wings and fly like a bird. I can say it from experience.

Have a Very-Very Nice Day!

La Dolce Vita

(First of all, I would like to recommend you to listen to the song –above- while reading this post. ;-) )

Hello My Dearest Reader,

I’m back again, full with emotions, thoughts and stories to tell. 8-) How are you, My Dear? Do you feel good in this fantastic, sunny weather?

I have a brand new habit nowadays: I often listen to Sky.fm in the evenings. (It’s a colossal radio, if you fancy, please try it: www.sky.fm ) There are plenty of channels to choose from in every genre of music: Hip Hop, Jazz, Rock, Popular Music, Salsa and so on. One of my favourites is the Classic and Flamenco Guitar Channel, which I can warmly recommend to you for relaxation. Once when I was listening to it, I had a very pleasant feeling and beautiful pictures came into my mind.

I closed my eyes, leaned back in my comfortable chair, and had the same feeling when I was in Croatia with my Family. Some years ago, we spent our holiday in Petrcane, in this small, friendly, peaceful fishing-village. We, the four of us, were sitting on the coast of the Adriatic Sea every evening. We just let our legs swing in the gentle stroking water and watched the movement of the waves below the stars. Tourists and residents were walking in the cobbled, romantic, narrow streets, and enjoyed the kindly warm weather. It didn’t count, when or where you came from, or which language you spoke, people were together and they always understood each other when it was needed. Cheerful, authentic, Croatian music filtered out from the little restaurant some metres of us, and the guests were laughing, dancing and having a good time. We leaned against each other with my relatives and relaxed. It was a fantastic moment, with Peace and Love.

When I open my eyes again, I often feel the wind blow, smell the scent of the water and hear the sound of the waves again. Then, I realize that I’m sitting on the coast of another Sea, in another time. It’s another space, another country, another summer, and always the same ’sitting-by-the-Sea’ feeling; but it’s another Sea: The Hungarian one. It’s the good, old Lake Balaton.

I wish you a Fantastic Day and a Nice Weekend!

Chillax (as Dóri would say it)

Hello My Little Reader,

I haven't seen you for ages! How do you do? (I read another version for this question; it's a more informal one, and I think it's quite nice.) 'What's cookin', My Dear?' 8-)

Fortunately, I have already finished all of my exams. The last one was on the 6th of January: That was the oral exam from 'Introduction to Literary and Cultural Studies'. I had to talk about the issues of the literary canon. It was a very good topic, and I read a lot about it, because I was interested in it, so I had a good conversation with my teacher, and I managed to answer his questions. That was my first oral exam in the University, and it's a very hopeful beginning.

Now, I have plenty of time, and I also have the fantastic opportunity to do NOTHING. OK, in fact I do several things: I spend most of my time with my 'Fellow' -his Family- and my Friends, I fulfil my creativity by painting and decorating objects with napkins, play my synthetizer, write, read what I want, take trips, and the list is neverending... I try to make the best use of my time, enjoy my Life, and it has a great effect: I'm as happy as a human being can be. I feel fantastic, sometimes I can even fly without wings, and I'm still The Luckiest Person In The Whole World. ;-) (I'm very proud of this 'title'.)

I even had time to take some photos too, while I was walking on the coast of Lake Balaton. Many of my groupmates asked me questions about the frozen Lake. Most of them have never seen Lake Balaton at December, and I would like to show them what it looks like. That's why you can find pictures of it in the slideshow. (There are two of a fountain in Jókai-Park as well. )

Once, I made a promise to myself and to my Friends, who can't speak English: I'll translate my first short story, the 'Passengers' for them. Now, I'll begin this project, in order to finish it within one week. It's a very rewarding task. If you would like to read the English version, you can easily do it: Just 'click' on the pdf. above, and download it.

It was an extraordinary post from me: nothing 'philosophica', just my everyday life. 8-) It seems, that I have a 'holiday' from this aspect too.

Have a Nice Day and Relax if you can!

All the Best,

Dóry 8-D, the Happiest Person In The World
